Battery Drain in 2002 STS

I purchased a kit in late December and love my BlueStar system. It is easy to use and was very simple to install. However within a week of the install I came out to a dead battery. I figured it was just a coincidence since the battery was just over 8 years old and was probably "due". So I bought a new battery and everything was fine until Yesterday... Almost exactly a month later and another dead battery.

After a jump start the BlueStar device was triggering a VERY bright Red LED on the OnStar panel and would not sync to my phone. Another clue, when it was working, the green light "on led" on the OnStar panel, was VERY faint... you could only tell that the unit was working at night. During the day it was so faint that it looked to be off.
When calls were completed the red "in use" LED was also extra bright...

I have removed the unit from my car and the battery is fine again.

What did I do wrong? Any ideas?

RED LED is always brighter than Green. But I agree, your symptoms are strange. After the car goes to sleep, the unit should shut down and go to low power mode. You can verify this by loss of connection to the cell, and mirror leds and backlight (hard to see in daytime) go off. If this is not happening, something could be wrong with unit.
Send email to tech support and we can set up an RMA to take a look at it for you.

I installed the unit last night. This morning my battery was dead and needed a jumpstart.

I just went to check it at 11:00am after parking at 8:00am. The green light in the BlueStar was still on, three yours later. What can you tell me about this? (2007 Acadia)

I had the same issue with my 2005 Corvette. The unit would not go to sleep and remained on. I finally disconnected it and returned it to Chris. I understand he is working on a fix for this bug. Haven't heard back yet as to when it will be available. Have you gotten any feedback from Chris yet?

Yes Chris got back to me and sent me a new 2010 system...

I will give it a go.. but I have been reading that lots of people seem to have issues with the system waking up on the GM BUS network and then staying away all night long...
