Wilson Signal Booster with OnStar antenna?

I sent an inquiry into an on-line dealer asking if the Wilsom Signal Booster could be used with the OnStar Cell Antenna rather than installing another exterior antenna, their answer was;

"The Universal Signalboost is a 50ohm system and uses 50ohm antennas.You need to check to find out what ohm the OnStar/GM antenna is. If it is not 50ohm, you may have too much loss going into the Signalboost.
The Universal Signalboost operates in the 800/1900 MHz frequency range. Since On-Star interfaces with various cellular providers, anyantenna provided for use with On-Star should be compatible as far asfrequency goes."

Anybody know what the ohm rating is for OnStar Cell antenna?

50 ohm is standard. My concern would be a)if the connector is the same. Seems like the Wilson had other than the garden variety mini-UHF connector. I just installed my Class 2 about an hour ago on the wife's '04 SRX, but didn't look to see how the existing antenna was connectorized into the existing RF unit.
b) the early (2004) RF units were 800 mHz only, and the on glass antenna on the wife's vehicle is 800 mHz only. Tessco.com has several onglass antennas that will work in both bands. I'd be inclined to replace the antenna. Again, make sure the antenna you buy is of the right gender at the coax to mate with the Wilson. Keep the "in-car" antenna as far as possible from the external antenna, or it will repeat itself. The in car antenna should go in front of or behind the console. Good luck!

I am NO expert at cell phone equip. But I know the OnStar system for its cell Phone uses Verizon, which is what I use. So I would think the Freq. would be the same along with ohms.
But like you say, are the connector’s compatible and/or are there any adaptors.
I was just trying to utilize the GM/OnStar equipment already in place while installing the Bluetooth module.

I don't know the ohm rating, but i bought an adapter- mini sim i think- and have been using a Wilson amp since I got my first Costar product, and the factory antenna. I put my iPhone in field test mode, and see substantial signal boost with the amp is powered up.
